We are excited to offer aquatic physical therapy treatment, as well as traditional land-based physical therapy. Here at Middleton Physical Therapy, we have a HydroWorx 500 pool, which has an underwater treadmill ranging in speed from 0.1 mph to 7.5 mph. Injured athletes can run and exercise in the pool to maintain their strength and endurance as they recover, allowing them to progress more quickly once they are able to fully weight bear on land.
WHAT WE DO
Patients who are unable to walk or exercise on land can also benefit from the pool. Aquatic therapy has been proven to be helpful for people with fibromyalgia, arthritis, and many other medical conditions. The warm water provides a comfortable and relaxing environment for people to exercise, and the resistance of the water can help strengthen muscles and improve cardiovascular endurance. Water buoyancy reduces the effects of gravity on aching joints or injured muscles, making it less difficult or painful to participate in therapy. A chair lift is available to help patients in and out of the pool, as needed.
